Embodies a passion for entertaining, wine tasting, collecting cookbooks, farmers market at the San Francisco Ferry Building on Saturdays and finding the latest cooking gadget at Williams-Sonoma or Sur La Table. About Lisa | Authentic Suburban Gourmet

I was born and currently live in the beautiful San Francisco Bay Area. I have an immense affinity for great food, wine and entertaining. Living here affords me the opportunity to enjoy the wine country, abundant farmers markets and a vast array of gourmet food stores and brilliant restaurants. These are all wonderful inspirations for my “Authentic Suburban Gourmet” blog which was born January 2009.

The name Authentic Suburban Gourmet spawned from being true to myself by expressing my creativity and thoughts (authentic) through using ingredients and resources that are available most everywhere (suburban) and demonstrating an elegant, sophisticated touch (gourmet).  By day, I am a Talent Acquisition Executive at a growing company in the Bay Area and by night and weekends, a food blogger.

The creation of this blog allows me an outlet outside of my professional life to express my creativity, passion, imagination and artistic side, through documenting my cooking experiences to my blog. I completely enjoy the blogging community and meeting wonderful people - that is one of the most satisfying results of blogging.  I am a self-taught cook who learned the basics from my Mother, reading cookbooks and watching a lot of cooking shows. I create or adapt recipes to make them my own. I enjoy taking every opportunity to share my love of cooking with others by throwing dinner and cocktail parties, baking cookies and cooking for my “number one fan”, my husband Charles.

About Charles | Hubby

Charles is my darling husband of 24 years who on our third date, asked to enjoy my cooking and as they say "the rest is history". Charles enjoys the labor of my love for cooking and fondly calls me the "Executive Chef" of our house.

About Marty and Stewart | Doggies

Our 1st doggie was Max, the Lhasa Apso and we had him for 14.5 years ever since he was a 10 week old puppy.  We loved him so much. Unfortunately the last 3 months of his life, he had cancer.  We did everything for him to make him as comfortable as possible and loved him each and everyday until he went to heaven on July 13th, 2014.

Hubby and I absolutely felt empty without Max around and had many chats about what we would do once Max went to heaven.  After searching and searching, we found Marty and Stewart, the Havanese puppies. Originally I wanted a boy and girl, so I could name them Martha and Stewart, but we just made a slight adjustment when we found these two adorable brothers.
